A
really neat add-on for just about any USB equipped Mac, especially
iMacs and iBooks, is the iDock, by CompuCable. Not only does it
raise your computer to just the right height, it also adds many
excellent expandability options, including two Mac Serial ports,
a parallel port, and three USB ports. (It also comes with InfoWave's
PowerPrint drivers, but I found it impossible to get it to work
with my old HP OfficeJet 350 until I downloaded CompuCable's new
iDock driver from their website. Upon installing it, all of the
minor problems I'd had with the iDock immediately disappeared
and the OfficeJet was up and running in less than a minute. The
iDock II, also by CompuCable, looses the parallel port, but adds
one more USB port and a built-in 3.5 floppy drive. I just bought
an iDock and added an external USB floppy, as iDock II + PowerPrint USB would
have been a lot more expensive. You should consider picking
up one of these mega-hubs soon!
